GameDev Update
Ross is currently working on his Deck Builder tool and ensuring the card will scroll smoothly during gameplay. Also, we are working on some exciting new icon art and characters, including our much-anticipated Emperor and Empress.

Everything the Withereds touch turns to DEAD...unless NATURE.FIGHTS.BACK!

Meet a new character, the Carniflower, front and center! We'll do a feature on this sentient plant soon (unless you're a Newsletter subscriber; then you've met our creepy vegetation!).

Characters, Spells & Art / Re: Heroic Humans

Barbarian
As one of the physically strongest hero, the Barbarian is a fearsome ally. With his ability to endlessly strike at the enemy for each foe he defeats, the Barbarian is an ideal counter to swarms of weaker units, but his low Defense leaves him vulnerable to counter attack. Here are some variations on the Barbarian's weapon.

Bard
Regaling tales of triumph as she plays her fabled lute, the Bard strikes courage and hope into the hearts of her teammates. She is an exceptional support unit and should be kept well protected at the forefront of your assault to best leverage her abilities.

Cleric
She uses the powers of the divine to heal her team on the brutal battlefield. Her blessed armor provides protection as she brings light to the unyielding darkness...

Fighter Mage
Part of a clan of competitive elves that inhabit heavily wooded areas, the Fighter Mage practices his swordplay daily. To quench his natural bloodlust, he enters the battlefield whenever he can. He values winning above all else, and has learned magic in order to bolster his combat skills.

Characters, Spells & Art / Reptis
« on: January 15, 2018, 11:30:23 AM »
The Reptis are a race of humanoid reptilian creatures native to the lush jungles that populate the lands of Summoners Fate. Their ranks consist of tall, Iguanidae/croc/dino lizard like hominids, smaller frilled lizard bipeds, and half humanoid, half serpentine creatures. I need help coming up with better names for the race and various as well as abilities. Feedback welcome!

Here are some of the abilities we are currently tossing around for the various sub-classes.

Reptis Warrior Abilities

Resilience - Their thick scales provide natural protection, enabling them to ignore a percentage of damage they would normally receive from incoming attacks.

Chomp Attack - In addition to their regular weapon attack, warriors can use their massive jaws for a bonus attack. We’re debating whether this makes sense to use in response to a counter attack (a vengeance attack) or whether it triggers after their regular attack if the targeted unit doesn’t counter attack (more like an attack of opportunity). Let us know which idea you like best.

Tail Spin Attack - Some players have suggested the lizards might use their tails as a weapon by spinning and whipping them in conjunction with their weapon, allowing them to target all surrounding enemies. We think a power like this might be fitting for the more powerful champion unit, who also has a spike on his tail.

Frilled Lizard Abilities

Shield + Javelins - Since their javelin can be thrown with a single hand, the frilled lizards have a huge advantage over archers as they can deflect incoming return fire and melee attacks.

Camouflage - Frilled lizards can blend in with surrounding fauna, enabling them an opportunity to position themselves for surprise attacks.

Poison - Champions will have poison tipped javelins and we’re also thinking they may grant this ability to friendly lizards to greatly increase their strategic value. Poison causes units to lose life at the start of their turn - and it stacks! This means the more you get hit by poison, the faster it works to end you.

Snakepeople Abilities

First Strike - Since snakes in nature are known for incredibly fast reflexes, we like the idea of allowing snake people to kill an enemy before they can counter attack. Normally, units get to counter attack unless they are “overkilled”, but victims of the snake attack would not get counter attack if their victim's life is reduced to 0.

Heat Senses - Snakes have ability to detect heat and we’re thinking this might translate in game to detecting hidden units as well as certain traps.

Anthropod Walker
This nightmarish creature is an insectoid + crab humanoid hybrid that's been mutated by Chaos Magic. With razor sharp, skull crushing pincers, this powerful creature is certain to strike fear in those foolish enough to face against it on the battlefield.

Giant Stag Beetle
Typical stag beetle are around 2 inches (5 cm) long and are not harmful to humans. However, in the realm of Summoners Fate, our playable Giant Stag Beetle is much larger and much more harmful to humans, animals, and all creatures that populate the battlefield. Watch out for those huge and deadly mandibles!

Within the moment of eternal chaos that precludes existence, the infinite possibilities give rise to consciousness and order. In this moment, celestial minds came into being and asked a crucial question that would result in the creation of the world: “Why are we here and what is our purpose?” Through contemplation of this question, they perpetuated the divine act of separating light and dark, collective soul and individuality, fear and hope. Their purpose: to attain everlasting contentment and love. Ever drawn back to the darkness of the Void through the innate existential balance, they devised a mechanism that would ensure their success: the dimension of time. Through the existence of time, individuality and meaningful narratives could take place, with the souls of trillions of individual beings acting as tiny mirrors, reflecting back upon one and other powerful emotions of life, love and discovery.

Celestial Magic is associated with divine order, light, love, spiritual energy and the dimension of time. This magical energy is drawn from celestial beings and the existential ether that shapes and forms the basis of reality. Celestial spells include powerful healing and protection abilities, light energy that can banish demons of the Void and repel the destructive forces of Chaos, and the ability to control time itself.

Celestial Steampunk Timekeeper Rats are an ancient race that was chosen by the celestials to safeguard and protect the secrets of time from those who would try and disrupt the divine order. The rats are a sophisticated and highly evolved race, good natured and lawful. They are small in stature, standing about three feet tall on average, wear fancy, multiple layers of clothing, and are equipped with clockwork relics that allow them to control and manipulate the fabric of time. They work exceptionally well together as a team.

From left to right, we have the Time Bombardier, a ranged unit that can throw "time bombs" that damage and slow enemy movement, the Time Keeper, a powerful Summoner with the power to cast Celestial Time Spells, and the Time Warrior, a cunning melee fighter with hyper speed and lightning reflexes.

Celestial Time Spells
Below are a selection of spells we have conceived of so far to go with the Celestial Steampunk Timekeeper Rat theme. Time manipulation mechanics such as these are one of many unique innovations we aim to bring to the tactics and CCG genres.

What do you think of these ideas and what kinds of time and celestial spells would you like to see in Summoners Fate?

"Snakemen" Screenshot - facing off in the desert environment. Think it is going to be a bit difficult for the Paladin, Rogue, and Griffin to reach that highly sought-after weapons' rack!

Don't forget - vote today to help us rename this snake-humanoid race. We've already gotten some great suggestions from Maltross! Click on the image to vote.

Meet our "Snakemen" race! I put that in quotes because we don't actually love this name for these snake humanoids; can you help us with a better name for this race? Vote on our Forum today by clicking here!
