Heroic Humans
« on: November 04, 2017, 05:27:21 PM »
Welcome to the hall of heroes! This post boasts our collection of heroic human characters, ranging from such classics as the brutal Barbarian to the disciplined Samurai. Check back often for updates and to discover which hero speaks to you.

Samurai
He's bound by bushido - the "way of the warrior" - and enters the battlefield with morality and discipline on his mind. He brandishes his meticulously-crafted sword; he does not seek to raise his blade in violence - but he will not be dishonored...

Arch Mage
Invoking his mystical orb and thrusting his faithful staff, the Arch Mage wards off his enemies on the battlefield in droves. He will not be defeated this day…

Sorceress
With a flourish of her enchanted staff, she brought forth mythical spells & certain death for her enemies on the battlefield…

Assassin
He hides in the shadows and readies his double daggers. His mask is firmly in place as he silently lunges at his opponent...

Archer
She's armed, she's ready - she will hunt you down. She can land that arrow anywhere on the battlefield - running is not an option!

Rugged Mage
We didn't want to only have the "traditional" very old, long-bearded, white-haired Wizard; this mage is an updated look and will be matched with some updated powers (in the works!)

Rogue
He eyes his enemy from across the battlefield; he's ready, he's calm, he's precise. He points his bow to the ground and loads it. Drawing in a deep breath and narrowing his gaze, he expertly raises his bow, draws the string, and releases as he exhales…

Having been manumitted, the Gladiator roams the battlefields of Summoners Fate with his steady net and harpoon, his trusty choices in battle. Though he is free, he cannot escape his memories of the things he's seen, the things he's done...He seeks a "good death," yet has been unable to find anyone up to the task.

See his WIP animation (along with the Bard's) here:

Having a set of gladiator characters sounds great!
About the animation it looks a bit weird that the harpoon gets pulled back without seeing any rope attached. Otherwise it introduces a new interesting move in the tactical toolset. Nice!

Thanks, Scribe! Ross and I love shows like "Spartacus" (we even named one of our cats that!) and movies like "Gladiator" and "300", so we are really inspired to build out a race based on the Gladiators - glad to hear you like the idea, too  ;)

Good call on the animation. It is still work-in-progress, so we will be adding the rope to it in the future to complete the look. Thank you for calling that out, though - would look a little silly in the game without it!

Barbarian
As one of the physically strongest hero, the Barbarian is a fearsome ally. With his ability to endlessly strike at the enemy for each foe he defeats, the Barbarian is an ideal counter to swarms of weaker units, but his low Defense leaves him vulnerable to counter attack. Here are some variations on the Barbarian's weapon.

Bard
Regaling tales of triumph as she plays her fabled lute, the Bard strikes courage and hope into the hearts of her teammates. She is an exceptional support unit and should be kept well protected at the forefront of your assault to best leverage her abilities.

Cleric
She uses the powers of the divine to heal her team on the brutal battlefield. Her blessed armor provides protection as she brings light to the unyielding darkness...

Fighter Mage
Part of a clan of competitive elves that inhabit heavily wooded areas, the Fighter Mage practices his swordplay daily. To quench his natural bloodlust, he enters the battlefield whenever he can. He values winning above all else, and has learned magic in order to bolster his combat skills.

Sylvia the Druid
To our Summoner, Sylvia, the animals of Summoners Fate are sacred, their lives just as important as the humans - if not more so. She has pledged herself to be their protector and to embolden even the smallest forest critter to fight back against the selfish and evil hordes that dare destroy their land...

Li the Pyromancer
This Chaos summoner has the power to harness fire in all its glory - she can create it, shape it, command it. She destroys her enemies in a blazing & burning hell of death. And she enjoys every minute of it...

Do you enjoy playing with fire?  :o
