Game Updates & News / Re: Daily Updates
« on: November 08, 2017, 01:06:00 PM »
Hello, Forum Members-

Well, this morning was a bit of a disappointment for Ross and me. We went to sleep last night being at 106% of our goal and getting our art prepared for our first Stretch Goal, the Celestial Steampunk Timekeeper Rats, and woke up to being below our goal at 92%. We were shocked and, honestly hurt, and upon doing further research, discovered a few large pledgers backed out without explanation. Sadly, it appears these "pledgers" were never true supporters and have done this same thing to other similar projects. We have contacted Kickstarter on the matter in hopes this won't happen to others like us. In the meantime, we decided we wanted to share this news with our supporters and fans of Summoners Fate so you can be part of our honest journey.

We've been overjoyed by the encouraging messages we've received from you guys! Please know we read each of them, and they truly mean a lot to Ross and me.

So - what now? Well, we are two pretty tenacious folks and we knew the startup life was not going to be an easy one. We are even more determined to make the Kickstarter a success with our 8 days left, and still have quite big plans for our game!

One of those big plans is what we alluded to yesterday - an Insectoid race! These are insects that are quite large and humanoid in their actions. Here's a "glamour shot" of some of them:

Don't they look...cute and creepy?! LOL, that's a bit what we were going for. Fun Fact: Ross really likes insects, and knew he wanted to get them into our game as a playable race. He especially likes praying mantises and ants. However, Ross HATES yellowjackets in real life for all the times they've stung him while doing yardwork. He wanted to add them to the game as a way to defeat them on our battlefield! If you feel the same way, these may be the perfect opponent for you!

Here are some examples of their animations:

                        Scorpion Wasp                                                                  Mantis

                                            Bug Bonanza

And, finally, the BUG BATTLE:

What do you think? Would you like to play as the Insectoids? Or, would you like to squash these bugs in game?!

Finally, any other insects we should include? Sound off here!

Sound off in the comments about what we should add!

Hello!  ;D

We have a few daily updates for you today, so let's get right to them! First up....

This screenshot is inspired by one of our favorite miniature based board games. Here's a few clues to look for:
1. The staircase
2. The heroes in the party (3 out of 4 staple characters of this board game are shown)
3. The furniture

Can you guess which board game inspired this dungeon? Oh, and Ross says "Keep answer a secret if you took part in the Discord chat about this, but feel free to offer misleading clues"

Next up, Ross did an audio Podcast with The Chicago Gametrepreneur, and I joined in at the very end. It was a lot of fun, and they asked great questions, including what games we'd play if we were stuck on a desert island, what type of music we listen to when we work, and more! Check it out here:

Finally, we have teased a bit about our Insectoid Race characters in the past. Here are some sketches:

As you can see, we have sketches of an Ant, Scorpion Wasp, Giant Yellowjacket, and a Mantis. These will be human sized, which is why were are referring to them as Insectoids vs. insects. Most of these will have flight ability, among other really fun powers.

We will go more in depth with the Insectoids tomorrow, including finished art and animations. Stay tuned!

Nice collections. I need to get mine painted and a photograph of them asap!

Thanks! Yes, definitely we'd love to see them! I understand, though - my picture strategically hid the whole shelf of primed, not painted miniatures, and sadly I still have boxes of Sisters of Battle from Warhammer 40K not even opened! I need to get on that... :-[

I'm so happy to announce we've been FUNDED in 13 days on Kickstarter! THANK YOU supporters! Ross and I are pumped!

We have 10 days left in our Kickstarter, and are now looking toward our fun Stretch Goals. First one is adding a race of Celestial TimeKeeper Steampunk Ratmen race - so strange, it just has to work  ;D If you're a fan of Steampunk, time manipulation spells, "good" characters, and/or Rats, this is the Race you've been missing.

Characters, Spells & Art / Heroic Humans
« on: November 04, 2017, 05:27:21 PM »
Welcome to the hall of heroes! This post boasts our collection of heroic human characters, ranging from such classics as the brutal Barbarian to the disciplined Samurai. Check back often for updates and to discover which hero speaks to you.

Samurai
He's bound by bushido - the "way of the warrior" - and enters the battlefield with morality and discipline on his mind. He brandishes his meticulously-crafted sword; he does not seek to raise his blade in violence - but he will not be dishonored...

Arch Mage
Invoking his mystical orb and thrusting his faithful staff, the Arch Mage wards off his enemies on the battlefield in droves. He will not be defeated this day…

Sorceress
With a flourish of her enchanted staff, she brought forth mythical spells & certain death for her enemies on the battlefield…

Assassin
He hides in the shadows and readies his double daggers. His mask is firmly in place as he silently lunges at his opponent...

Archer
She's armed, she's ready - she will hunt you down. She can land that arrow anywhere on the battlefield - running is not an option!

Rugged Mage
We didn't want to only have the "traditional" very old, long-bearded, white-haired Wizard; this mage is an updated look and will be matched with some updated powers (in the works!)

Rogue
He eyes his enemy from across the battlefield; he's ready, he's calm, he's precise. He points his bow to the ground and loads it. Drawing in a deep breath and narrowing his gaze, he expertly raises his bow, draws the string, and releases as he exhales…

Characters, Spells & Art / Mythical Creatures
« on: November 04, 2017, 05:03:18 PM »
Inspired by the myths and legends of our own past, the mythical creatures of Summoners Fate are as fantastic as you remember reading.

Cyclops
He's got his EYE on you…Check out that heavy armor!

Chimera
In Greek mythology, a Chimera is typically depicted as a lion with the head of a goat coming out of its back, and a snake as a tail. This will be a fun character to control!

Griffin
The Griffin is a mythical creature with the head and wings of an eagle, and the body, tail, and back legs of a lion. He's one of many flying creatures we will be including in Summoners Fate, making the sky just as dangerous as the battlefield!

Blue Troll
This putrid teal brute wields his bone hammer as he enters the battlefields of Summoners Fate. What he lacks in wit, he makes up for in his uncanny ability to regenerate even the most dire wounds. Fears: fire!

Little Girl & Banshee
Shee's just a little girl...can't put a Ban on your fun...

Terrify your opponent when your creepy little girl (with the tattered Teddy Bear weapon) is defeated and surprisingly transforms into a blood-curdling Banshee!

Watch the gameplay video - make sure the volume is turned up!  ;)

Demon Lord
Straight out of the evil depths of fire and brimstone! Swinging his mighty war hammer, he's ready to torment his opponents into a fiery defeat.

Characters, Spells & Art / Elementals and Golems
« on: November 04, 2017, 04:29:17 PM »
Elementals are spiritual incarnations of primal forces that manifest as sentient beings. Golems are constructs of primal forces and elements, created by mages to serve their needs. Keep tabs on the different elementals and golems of Summoners Fate here.

Fire Elemental
Summoned from the magma & ashes of the Earth, the Fire Elemental blazes onto the battlefield. Using his faithful flame axe, he wields fiery death to those to which he comes to blows. Many try, but very few can put out this inferno of terror

Lightning Elemental
The Lightning Elemental brings forth the unstable power of stormbolts and certain painful electrocution…

Ice Golem
Feeling a piercing chill in the air? The ICE GOLEM is near! Check out the ice axe

Air Elemental
Summoned from the gales of a hurricane & violent squalls of a tornado, the Air Elemental storms onto battlefield. He has the ability to fly over people, obstacles, & traps. Using his two-handed crystal-bladed staff, he breezes through defeating his opponent....And his does it all with a gratified grin on his face.

Water Elemental
Here he is in all his wet glory. This summoned creature can attacks his enemies by thrusting his Trident. When he is defeat, not all is bad - all players on his team will GAIN life!
